It’s been about 18 months now since Marketing Central Victoria hosted Bruno Gralpois, author of Agency Mania. Bruno’s presentation attracted attendees from as far East as Saskatchewan, and as far South as Portland – and was covered extensively by the local media in Victoria. One of the highlights was the fact that we were able to invite 40 students from the University of Victoria, and from the local Junior Achievement chapter, many of whom stayed to meet one on one with Bruno. Inspirational to watch.
Since that visit, Bruno has taken a senior position at VISA in the Bay Area, those Uvic students have graduated, and many of us in the audience have applied learning from the presentation in our professional lives – applying some of the fundamentals from Bruno’s book into our day to day dealings with clients and partners. What hasn’t changed is that many of the key points made in Bruno’s book still hold true today.
I’d highly recommend the book to anyone that works in or around agencies in the Advertising or Marketing function, as there are valuable lessons to be learned from Bruno’s experience at Microsoft and DDB Needham, that can be applied instantaneously to your working life. We’ve certainly considered many of the key points made in Agency Mania, as we grow and evolve Ideba, focusing on client and market needs to move the business forward, and to keep us ahead of the curve.
